Decision of the Joint Selection Committee
The Joint Selection Committee for the Excellence Initiative approved three of the University of Freiburg's proposals on 15 June 2012: The renewal proposals for the Spemann Graduate School of Biology and Medicine (SGBM) and the Centre for Biological Signalling Studies (BIOSS) were both successful, and these institutions will continue to receive funding from the Excellence Initiative until 2017. The University of Freiburg is delighted that its new proposal for the Cluster of Excellence BrainLinks – BrainTools was also approved. The university will thus receive up to 92.5 million euros in funding over the next five years. The university's renewal proposal for the Institutional Strategy "Windows for Research" was not selected for funding.
